Garkane Energy Cooperative Inc (Garkane) is a certificated Distribution Electrical Cooperative serving south-central Utah and northern Arizona. GEC is regulated pursuant to the rules of the Utah Public Services Commission, the Arizona Corporation Commission, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). On April 15, 2021, FERC issued order 175 FERC ¶ 61,041 on Docket EL20-47-000. The order granted Garkane a partial wavier from the requirement of the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 (PURPA) to purchase energy and capacity from Qualifying Facilities (QFs) and assigned Deseret Generation & Transmission Co-operative, Inc (DGT) the obligation to make purchases from QFs within Garkane’s service territory pursuant to the terms of PURPA. Garkane, at DGT’s direction, will complete any requisite system interconnection studies and provide electrical station service as required.
Prior to submitting an interconnection request to Garkane for a Qualified Facility, we recommend that developers first request Avoided Cost Pricing information from Deseret Generation & Transmission Co-operative, Inc. at the address provided below.
